*Air Canada Flight 143 (The "Gimli Glider”) successfully landed here on July 23, 1983. This Boeing 767 ran out of fuel during a flight from Montreal-Ottawa-Edmonton. The incident resulted from a miscalculation of fuel due to the change from imperial to metric units along with a malfunctioning fuel gauge.
